Betina Schneider: Financial Empowerment for Indigenous and Non-Indigenous Peoples
Bettina Schneider is an Associate Professor in Indigenous Business and Public Administration at the First Nations University of Canada (FNUniv). She received an M.S. in Community Development and a Ph.D. in Native American Studies from the University of California, Davis. She has worked at FNUniv since 2007. She was formally the Associate Dean of Community, Research, and Graduate Programs and the Associate VP Academic at FNUniv. She has been a visiting faculty member in Simon Fraser University’s Indigenous Business Leadership (IBL) EMBA program since 2022. She has recently taken on the role of Co-Editor for the open access Journal of Aboriginal Economic Development (JAED). Bettina has also worked as a consultant for the First Nations Development Institute and First Nations Oweesta Corporation. Her research has predominantly focused on Indigenous community and economic development strategies, Indigenous financial institutions, Indigenous-relevant business and financial literacy curriculum, and Indigenous research methodologies.
In Bettina's session, she will discuss the financial literacy topics covered in the 2nd edition of Financial Empowerment for Indigenous and Non-Indigenous Peoples which will be published on November 13, 2024.
Faculty and staff are welcome to attend individually, to invite their students, to broadcast the presentation to their classroom, and to share the link with anyone in the Sask Polytech community.
Attendees will be invited to ask questions during the Q&A portion of the presentation.

Marcus Moulding:The Essentials of Budgeting and Financial Literacy
Marcus Moulding is the Program Head and an Instructor of the Financial Services programs at Saskatchewan Polytechnic, bringing experience in banking and financial services. Passionate about financial literacy, he is currently pursuing his Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation. Marcus is actively involved through Junior Achievement and serves as a board member of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Regina and Area.
For his talk, he will present “The Essentials of Budgeting and Financial Literacy,” a practical session aimed at equipping attendees with essential budgeting skills to enhance their financial well-being.
