Funding Opportunity
After tuition, textbooks are the highest cost for our students at Sask Polytech. I’m asking you to please consider the following opportunities to help erode financial barriers for students to come learn with us…
You choice of textbook for a course is exactly that…a choice. Are you interested in exploring more options for learning resources that are available to you as an educator? Some of those options eliminate textbook costs for students while maintaining or even enhancing learning effectiveness. Of equal importance is the transference of content to an online forum. This presents many copyright challenges that can be eliminated through the use of an OER.
- In particular, are you willing to commit to a Zero Textbook Cost (ZTC) course for 2021/22? Review the attached ZTC form, outline your plan, and you could be awarded $1000 towards professional development. ZTC could combine the use of licensed library materials, open education resources (OER), public domain content, and openly licensed materials (Creative Commons) for the end goal of offering a course that has no textbooks costs for students.
- You may ask: what if you can’t locate zero-cost learning resources because the subject is too specialized or available content is not adequate? Please consider developing/adapting an Open Education Resource (OER) for your course! We can help you make that happen with funding available for this purpose at Sask Polytech. Apply today using the application form attached to this email.
