Library Spaces

Find the perfect space to study, work on a project, meet friends, or just relax in one of our campus library locations.

Types of Study Spaces

Social spaces are for groups to work together. Ideal for students needing a space to attend heavily interactive online classes.

Learning is often a social and communal activity. The library is the natural place for tutoring, working on group projects and studying together. We are limited by the layout and features of the library. These are the expectations when using the library space.

  • Phones – keep phones on silent and take loud conversations outside of the library.
  • Videos and media – use headphones to watch videos and other media with sound. If you don’t have headphones you can buy ear buds at the front desk.
  • Talking and group work are important for learning – please be respectful to others. We encourage group work at our tables, but keep the volume reasonable and content respectful. Be aware of people around you. If you would like a more private space, you can book a study room
  • Alternative spaces – the libraries work with our Facilities department to promote additional space for study elsewhere on campus.

In Common study areas and study carrels, low-level conversation is welcome, however, these are quieter, more traditional library spaces. Ideal for students needing a space to attend online classes with little to no interaction required.

Please keep volume levels low and be mindful of those working around you.

Expectations:

  • Use headphones when listening to music, watching videos or attending an online class
  • Put your cell phone on vibrate
  • Keep phone conversations quiet and brief

In Regina Library, room 207.14 is a designated quiet space. If you are looking for a quiet space, please consult with library staff.

Expectations:

  • Individual study, keep conversations to a minimum
  • Use headphones when listening to music, watching videos or listening to lessons
  • Put your cell phone on vibrate and take calls in another part of the building
  • Be mindful of loud typing on keyboards
